02.07 – Transforming False Beliefs – Part 2
Fortunately, falseness – every false belief about health care and about anything else – is inherently unstable. It is unstable precisely because it is only a belief.
Truth is rock-solid, unchanging, always operating, and always freely available. Beliefs are not Truth.
What is a belief? Beliefs are untested assumptions, unproven opinions, unverified points of view. Beliefs are not true, they are only assumed to be true. Indeed, they are only temporary mental constructs, with no certain truth to them whatsoever.
Beliefs only remains active and powerfully influential within you because you are unconsciously maintaining them every day. Your challenge is to stop reflexively assuming they are valid. Instead, look at them, carefully, and challenge them.
How can you do that?
There are many ways to challenge false beliefs. The techniques are usually simple; the process itself is intense.
You have held your false beliefs a long time; you are very used to them… they have taken root in you. Even if your beliefs are now causing you pain and suffering, it is not easy to break old habits and patterns.
Your first step is studying and applying the information in this NHEP. As you learn, and apply what you have learned, all aspects of your mind and body will improve. You are rebuilding your mind and body with high-quality materials, and treating yourself better with high-quality lifestyle habits. Both mind and body begin operating much more smoothly and efficiently. In doing so you will simultaneously be examining and eliminating many previous false beliefs about health care and disease care.
There are other techniques to challenge your beliefs, questioning and examining them. Simple techniques of self-inquiry and self-discovery. But I will not go into them here in this Course. That will come later, towards the end of the NHEP.
